In fairly typical Hollywood style, a second movie (Despicable Me) in the same general format came out around the same time and now people don't talk much about Megamind, which was so much better than it had to be. It was big and obvious, but also crafty, verbally adroit, and detailed.Megamind ( Will Ferrell ), the greatest villain in the world, is locked in an eternal battle against the seemingly invincible and perfect Metro Man ( Brad Pitt ). However, in their last confrontation over go-to Damsel in Distress Roxanne Ritchi ( Tina Fey ), Megamind finally ( and surprisingly) manages to defeat his Arch-Nemesis.Megamind is indisputably a bad guy at the start. He does get better, but whether his later actions count as redemption for his earlier actions is up for debate. But also starting a moral debate over a movie meant to be a cartoonish parody of a boatload of tropes is kinda goofy to begin with.
